Last-Minute Summer Wedding Tips / Tulsa World Article

Happy Tuesday!

Concepts PR was part of 6 weddings this June…phew! So, as we patiently wait for photos from the photographers, I thought I would share an article from the Tulsa World about summer wedding tips.

Tulsa World’s Scene Writer, Bravetta Hassell, interviewed me last week to discuss the many different things a bride needs to prepare for if she chooses to have her wedding in the summer. It is always a great honor when the media calls to ask for an interview!

Here it is:

A couple of other quick notes: Photography is something you also need to consider when planning an outdoor wedding. If you want outdoor shots, you need to make sure your hair and makeup artist(s) know this. Oklahoma has a lot of wind and that beautiful ‘do can fly all over the place if not properly secured. With the heat index rising again (but hasn’t it been such a lovely summer in Oklahoma so far??), professional makeup artists come armed with the right equipment to make sure you and your girls are not shiny on your big day.

Also, make sure to sit down with your photographer to go over what you want for your photography. That may sound obvious, but photographers need to know where you want your shots taken. The heat, combined with the time of day, can really put a damper on your plans. A professional photographer will create a photography timeline that will work with the weather possibilities.

And a final note, make sure you and your wedding party have plenty of water on your big day. And if you are a rustic bride and have found an ideal rustic location but you have mosquitos the size of birds to deal with, don’t forget your insect repellent. There are wonderful organic DEET-free options out there that use herbal oils instead of chemicals (Burt’s Bees has a great option). Always test out new products before your wedding day to see if the smell and the consistency work for you.

Thanks again to Bravetta for this wonderful article! And to all those summer brides out there, Congrats!
